Playing around with moving the branches in PS.... My attempt at tighter crop with "natural" borders... Used the branch on the left to help cover some of the bright spots in the background as well... |

hi Jason, Nice close up of the male cardinal. My primary goal on bird photos is to get the eye(s) in sharp focus, and a secondary goal of getting a sharp focus on the feathers if at all possible. You've got him looking right at the camera, which is great. I like how you've cropped this to remove distractions, but with the brightening, you've got a lot of very light space on the sides of the bird. might come back down a little on the exposure, and even consider cropping a little tighter if you have enough pixels. I like the bark on the upper right - if it was closer to the bird, it woudl potentially frame him nicely - would be a bit more PS work to see if that could be achieved... |

Hi Terry,
Interesting shot - I like the subject matter. Few thoughts - might not brighten up quite so much - it's a night photo, and the foreground seems surreal at the modified level. The left bus has something going on with the lighting on the ground, ? related to the post processing. Bit distracting, is drawing my eyes away (I think) from the focus of the picture. I would consider cropping it in significantly tighter, focusing on the men and the right bus as attached...? Interested in others' thoughts... |

Very neat photo - like the monochrome for this one. might crop out the pieces of tree sneaking in on the left border. I love how the landscape fades out in the background with the fog. Woudl also see how it might look with a bit more contrast in the mid portion of the image? |

Hi Sunil,
Great shot! That lens did a great job, and I really like the B&W treatment. might crop a little tighter, and see what it looks like with the shadows brightened a little bit, but not much else to add. Really like it! |

Nice work, Jim - neat scene, and I like your decision to crop so the path of the horses follows around the edge of the image. I woudl probably have not even noticed the smokestack removal if you hadn't said something, but now that you did, my eyes are drawn to its prior location. Can see a vertical line of the photoshop adjustment. I'm no PS pro, but woudl love to know from others with more experience how best to blur that and make the "new" sky blend in better... |

Hi Brenda,
Great capture. I like the decision to convert to B&W. Appreciate your observation that the rider looks like a LR addition.... One thought would be to crop a little wider... having the shadow in the image (IMO) makes his presence look more realistic. |
