Ingrid, nice concept. The flower if very nice but seems out of focus or soft in a number of areas, especially the front petal, which is where the eye falls first. I also think it needs a bit more negative space at the bottom. Happy travels! |

Marti, do you mean against a black or textured background? |

Kamal what a great blossom! The colors are beautiful and the bugs just add to it. Although I do like that you gave the flower a new background, sometimes the background you have will do quite nicely. Here's an edit I made to your original just to give you an idea that blurring the background can be effective. Nice job! |

Doug, really enjoy this. You found a leaf with such great character! Stacking is perfect, especially since the way the leaf is shaped it needed a lot of DOF at macro level. (Is the 100 mm a macro lens?). I personally like the black background, but a stroke might work well. Great job. |

Yeah, very pretty. I like the choice of background, really goes well with the color pallet. I do think a touch more luminescence in the bottom part of the flower would help, but it's a delightful image. |

Marti, interesting take on the orchid. Colors are awesome and I agree with Bob that the separation it creates works well. I do think if you added a touch of luminosity to the main subject it would pop even more by livening up the color are providing more separation. Very nice. |

Bob, this is the time of year that we flower specialists go nuts! Love the background separation on this one. The flowers are interesting enough, but I'm not nuts about the composition. I'd actually think it would work better in portrait mode and see the plant right from the ground level. Other than that, very nice. |
