Kamal, I do like what you did with the muted leaves and the bright lily, it's quite striking. I'm not sure where I stand on the filter but I do have a suggestion; I'd leave the filter on all but the lily, I think the effect would quite interesting. Anyway, just my thought, nice image! |

Ingrid, totally agree with Marti, it's a beautiful piece. The focus of the subject is perfect upon the stamen and defocusing of some of the flower works very well. I also like the dark area in the center because it draws the eye in even further. And, as Marti suggested, those red marks need to go. I am interested to know what millimeter you had the lens on the RX 10? I usually shoot macros at 600 mm but getting that perfect focus on the stamen makes me think you might be doing something else. Lovely job. |

Hi Doug, this almost seems a treatise on death and dying. I would not have said that if it remained as a color image, but as a monochrome piece, it definitely has the feeling of morbidity. I do like that the black and white pulled out the lines within the flower in the black background is very appropriate. Well done. |

Nadia, what a beautiful rose. Colors are luscious and I do like the angle by which you presented it. Additionally, the lighting is spot on. I do agree with Marti and I think I would've left all of the bottom areas and just toned down the right bottom side of the green background so it didn't distract from the subject. Well done. |

Hi Marti, I really do like this composition. Because the butterfly is so dominant it really is the subject matter of the photo. The purple colors of the butterfly set against the white and pink of the flowers and then the green background really makes it special. I do wish the butterfly was a bit more visible and in focus. I noticed that some parts of the flowers are sharp and other parts, including the eyes of the butterfly, not quite as sharp, but it's a hard thing to do. Anyway, nice job. |

Hi Bob, this is very striking. Do you have a way of making something out of nothing. I agree with Marti that the colors are vibrant and I do like the lines and curves within it. And even though it's an abstract you can certainly tell what the subject matter. I do like it because there really is a lot to look at and it's very pleasurable to do so. |
