Kathryn, fun capture of the bee. He/she is really going to town. I do a lot of macro of flowers and insects and it always blows me away on how messy nature is. There are particles, dust, mites, webs, etc. all over everything! You've done a nice job highlighting the bee and mellowing out the flower. Well done. |

Kamal, what beautiful colors in this image. The pinks and greens just dance together. I do agree with the others, that some darkening of the leaves behind it could be of help or even cloning out the bottom leaf that's sticking up toward the flower. For me however, the center of the flower is not sharp and generally that's where you want the sharpness in a blossom. Here's where you may want to use a tool like Topaz Sharpen, it really helps images like this that are close to sharp but need a bit more. Very nice image. |

Doug, what a beautiful flower. That orange is just brilliant. And I do like the background color, it seems to suit it pretty well. Some amount of texture may work here, but up to you. My only critique is that the flower is in focus for the first half and then begins to go out of focus as it gets further back. For me that's a little distracting. My eye seems to want the entire flower to be in focus or just the center in focus. No matter, it's a beautiful piece. |

Nadia, this is just lovely. The background you provided it goes perfectly with the trio. Interesting that you were able to capture such fine detail with a 35 mm lens at a f-stop of 1.4, that is a great lens. Beautiful work. |

Jacob, I like what you did here. There's good separation between the flower and the background and you blurred the background just enough. You also tweaked the colors just enough that they look realistic yet pop. The only thing that is objectionable to me is the building that seems to be in the background, if you can erase that it would make it much better photo. Nice job. |

Bob, that's quite beautiful. The greens and the reds make this the perfect holiday image. You got nice detail for most of the flower at f7, had you closed it up even a bit more the stamen may have been in focus too. (The only way I found to get great focus on a flower is a stack of some sort.) For me, the only area I would darken is the petal from another flower that's catching the sun on the top left. Other than that, love it. |
