Syed, this image is a knock out. The colors are perfect together and the bokeh couldn't be better. I like that you used the 70-300. You've given the flower a bit of a painterly feel and it works. This is something I'd hang on my wall. I have the Sony 70-300 and haven't thought about flower photography with it, instead using a macro lens. I'll give it a try! Thanks for a wonderful image. |

Doug, really enjoy viewing this. To me it's a study in how the base of a flower is so integral to the flower itself. You certainly captured the detail of the base down to the fine threads that make it up. I would agree with Doug's assessment that by either darkening the base or lightening the petals would add to the effect. Nice image! |

Jacob, what a cool flower. The purples and whitish blossoms are striking. I really like the way you blurred the background, it helped bring the flowers to the forefront. In viewing it left me to wonder why you didn't include the top of the flower in your exposure? Also, my eye wonders to the house in the background, so I might also suggest that when you do shoot flowers it's generally best to leave manmade objects out of view unless you want them as part of the subject. Thanks for sharing! |

Hi Kathryn, catching a macro image like this is difficult! Your 135 mm allowed you to get far enough away not to scare the bee and the fast shutter allowed you the motion you needed to get it. Nice job. I was thinking about the crop and maybe something like this would work since it focuses more on the action and takes the unfocused flower out of the image. Just a thought. Good work. |

Bob, yes I'm a Mac user, is there anything else? (Kidding.) As far as Luminar I almost gave up on it because of the continual crashing until the last iteration of 4. I love 4, the layering and tools are so intuitive. I have Neo but, for now, rely on 4 way more. I also use Affinity a great deal, it's as robust as Photoshop in my opinion, and a one time payment. |

Bob, the more I looked at this the more it grew on me (no pun intended). It reminds me of a Van Gogh, but a bit more psychedelic. I also like the way it became a bit more 3D with the treatment. The bold colors probably aren't for everyone, but I certainly enjoyed it. Nice. |

Nadia, I love this. It definitely exudes the feeling of a gray, rainy day and the rose providing the sunshine. The layering worked quite well but from my perspective it looks as if the window is on the backside of the rose. Nonetheless, it works. My only suggestion would be to use a clone tool to clean up some of the dying spots on the rose, but that's totally up to what you're after. Well done. |
