Thanks Stanley :-) Until i joined this group, admittedly i hadn't thought enough about feather detail. When i edit in the future i will think more about this as i agree. |

Thank you Thorro and agree with your comment about cropping out the bright highlights. This is why these comments are so valuable as i had not even noticed! |

Wonderful capture and i have little comment, as admittedly, i have never photographed a nocturnal animal, so well done for handling that technical feat. I also like the crop and whilst the eyes get my immediate attention, i also turn very quickly to those magical fingers! |

Hi Steve, nice capture and it is not easy photographing birds that are timid. Agree with comments about composition and placing off centre. Personally i would leave facing left to right. I would try to crop the image so that you remove the distracting branch to the left of the bird.I appreciate that this will change the file size considerably. |

Hi Stanley, really like your capture and the only thing i can add for the future is what you have said yourself. I photograph penguins and albatross a lot and highlights are an issue. I therefore nearly always dial in some exposure compensation to manage that. My problem is forgetting to adjust when i photo a dark bird!

Hi Thorro, lovely image with great detail in feathers, like the crop and editing changes. 100% agree with other comments about the blue tint. I also like that you have taken this image at a low level. This comment is easy to say but when capturing wildlife images i accept that we capture in the moment. If you were to move a fraction to the left, would the background be cleaner? Via the adjustment brush can you highlight background and adjust something like the texture to make a little less distracting? |

Great capture and wonderful to see an action image like this that is on land, as opposed to the more common image over water. I agree with comments about the shadow and head detail and it is fantastic to see your edits improving the image. Regarding cropping, i may have cropped just a little bit more from the top right corner. that is personal choice of course |
