97 Mar 21 Reply Thanks Stanley :-) Until i joined this group, admittedly i hadn't thought enough about feather detail. When i edit in the future i will think more about this as i agree. Mar 19th
97 Mar 21 Reply Thanks Jeffrey, i will experiment more with the aperture Mar 19th
97 Mar 21 Reply Thank you Thorro and agree with your comment about cropping out the bright highlights. This is why these comments are so valuable as i had not even noticed! Mar 19th
97 Mar 21 Comment Wonderful capture and i have little comment, as admittedly, i have never photographed a nocturnal animal, so well done for handling that technical feat. I also like the crop and whilst the eyes get my immediate attention, i also turn very quickly to those magical fingers! Mar 19th
97 Mar 21 Comment Hi Steve, nice capture and it is not easy photographing birds that are timid. Agree with comments about composition and placing off centre. Personally i would leave facing left to right. I would try to crop the image so that you remove the distracting branch to the left of the bird.I appreciate that this will change the file size considerably. Mar 19th
97 Mar 21 Comment Hi Stanley, really like your capture and the only thing i can add for the future is what you have said yourself. I photograph penguins and albatross a lot and highlights are an issue. I therefore nearly always dial in some exposure compensation to manage that. My problem is forgetting to adjust when i photo a dark bird!

97 Mar 21 Comment I love this image and composition. Agree lots of good feedback and i have nothing to add. Mar 19th
97 Mar 21 Comment Hi Thorro, lovely image with great detail in feathers, like the crop and editing changes. 100% agree with other comments about the blue tint. I also like that you have taken this image at a low level. This comment is easy to say but when capturing wildlife images i accept that we capture in the moment. If you were to move a fraction to the left, would the background be cleaner? Via the adjustment brush can you highlight background and adjust something like the texture to make a little less distracting? Mar 19th
97 Mar 21 Comment Great capture and wonderful to see an action image like this that is on land, as opposed to the more common image over water. I agree with comments about the shadow and head detail and it is fantastic to see your edits improving the image. Regarding cropping, i may have cropped just a little bit more from the top right corner. that is personal choice of course Mar 19th
