That's interesting. I hadn't heard that. I'll check it out. I'm curious now. I heard he bent down to swallow it which never really made sense to me. Your theory makes more sense. I did get a 1st place in our competition! |

I could do that, but not for our competition. It's not allowed |

Beautiful capture and the color and detail is incredible. I am amazed that your camera zooms to 2000mm! That makes it nice to capture these birds from a distance. I agree with removing the distracting tree on the left - great shot! |

These are new to me. We have great blue herons which are similar. They look so regal - I like the composition and you captured both of them in the same stately position. Very nice. |

Great shot! You caught it at the perfect moment. I especially like that you are almost level with the duck. The water is great and his eye is so sharp. Tells a story - wonderful! |

This is a good photo of a bird in flight. I agree that lightening it helps to show the detail in the feathers. You also might try increasing your shutter speed. I am usually at 1/2000 or higher for birds-in-flight and always on burst mode. That really helps to capture them when they are moving fast. They can be a challenge! |

Thank you. I did go back to make sure there wasn't more to the image that I cropped, but that's it! I am glad I got that much of the splash. |

Thank you! Apparently they skim along the water and when they catch a fish, they snap their mouth shut and turn the head back to swallow it. The splash is when he got the fish. At least this is what I've been told. I got lucky catching this at the right time! |
