I put your original photo in Lightroom Classic on my desktop computer and masked the gravel so only it changed, then used a small circle called a "brush". I made the brush slightly underexposed, less white, and a bit more black with the sliders and painted the gravel to make it less bright. Also I made the edge of the blue water a bit darker the same way.

Terrific snake shot. I would like it see if it stands out more by masking the snake and making the sand lighter or darker. |

I love these fall colors. I would like to see you darken the gravel/sand some, so it doesn't jump out as the first thing I see. Sort of what I did to your photo. |

Being as they are looking right at you, I have no problem with them placed right in the center. On my photo here, after the eagle took off with the fish he circled around, then came straight over my head and I have him dead center just as it was shot.
I might suggest experimenting with the colors/saturation of the grasses. On my monitor I find the colors of the deer seem to blend in with the grasses. |

Yes, amazing colors. Its all about light refraction and light angles. I've never seen the greens on the underneath like this.
I've gotten glossies in late afternoon sun and they appear orange and gold. Maybe that's nature's way of camouflaging them from predators. |

Such an interesting shot that tells a story of survival of the fittest out in the wild.
On my older monitor, I don't see oversaturation as much as the warm tones of the critters aren't too separate from the warm tones of the grasses. Maybe tone down the grasses a bit if possible.
Wonderful timing with this shot. |

Thank you so much. I can see a difference in editing as I look at mine on my home monitor, which is older and not an expensive photo monitor either. |

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I had to load and edit these in my laptop. |

Thank you so much. This was the first time I left my settings as above and didn't change them all morning. I used to have the SS 1/2500 and the ISO capped at the highest it could go. My birds had blurry wing tips and the photos were noisy.
I am much happier with these settings and LR took care of noise.
I also watched the weather on an app called Windy. I made sure to go when the wind was from the south and the birds would be flying towards me into the wind. |
