I have been watching these night herons at the Venice Rookery all season. I think your photo is one of the best I have seen. I can clearly see the bird and his red eye, which goes nicely with the water colors. Other photos have had a lot of vegetation in the background that just clutters the photo. I like how you have left space for the bird to fly into. 		Jun 19th

94 Jun 21 Comment Sarita, the detail is this bird is terrific. Look at that mouth. An animal hospital could use this photo. The only change I might try is lightening up the greens behind his head so his dark head doesn't blend in so much. Maybe increase yellow or green luminosity. This is a wonderful capture. Jun 6th
94 Jun 21 Comment Sherry, that is a beautiful bird. Perhaps they are not threatened by you now hanging around. Editing wise, the only thing I might experiment with is using a brush and decreasing the highlights in the blue area, or decreasing luminosity in the blue tone, and then using a brush, brighting up the bird's head just a bit. He does have a glint in the eye, so there is some degree of light on him. Jun 6th
