Morrie,
I just got back from an outing this morning where I saw some of these guys myself! What striking colors and patterns! You have great sharpness where you want it and had the good fortune to have beautiful background color. And the reflection is pretty darned good too! Great job! |

Alan,
Great action shot! You positioned yourself well toget the driver, the sled, and most of the dogs in one shot! Good planning! Loved seeing the "socks" on the dogs' feet. The story here is that the driver is being considerate of his team! Most of the dogs in the image have their mouths open. They are working hard! My only suggestions would be to open up th shadows on the faces of the dogs and driver. I cannot see the dogs' eyes. |

Danielle,
Great job in capturing the bird and the wave! You froze those water drops in mid air. I agree with Craig that you might consider cropping down about a 1/3. You subject is the bird and the splash behind it. I like the rock. It serves as a strong leading line to take your eye to the bird. I'd also consider opening up the shadows on that very black rock. |

Craig,
I think I've been to that spot! Makes for a great view! How did you do the pano? I find that if I shoot a series of images from the vertical orientation, I get a fuller pano. This image would gain more drama if it were shot nearer to dawn or dusk. |

Cindy,
Thanks for sharing this! Like you I am a fan of lighthouses. They never fail to make good subjects! Great job using the shoreline as a leading line taking your eye right to the lighthouse. Great job! my only suggestions for improvement would be to have included a bit more of the rock on the right, depending on how big it is. The white on teh left side of the lighthouse is very bright. Perhaps reduce it using the white slider in LRC. Another thought would be to pick a better time of day to get the drama of dawn of dusk. |

Bud,
I love the 3 splashes and the reflection of the bird's beak. You froze the bird's wing very nicely! my only suggestions would be to tone down the white of the middle splash. It looks blown out. You might also try to lighten the shadow on the bird's face. |

Butch,
I also had the great pleasure of visiting the Maisa Mari last fall. You caught these two in a lovely interaction! Great job in not letting the horizon lin go higher up on the animals. You also had the great fortune of having very good light on your subjects. The only minor issue I see is that we cannot see all of both heads. Perhaps waiting a moment longer? |

Larry,
As always the your story is at least as good as the photo! What fun! What a great image of a wildfire! My only suggestions would be to crop out or clone out the leaves that intrude on the left edge. They distract from the fire. |

Cindy,
So envious that you got to see wildlife so close to anarctica. Never been there but it is on my list! The interaction between the two penguins is very good! I also like that they have red beaks and yellow "hair?". It makes a nice contrast with the otherwise B&W scene. I also really like the chunks of ice in the foreground. My only suggestion would be to bring out their eys if that is possible. |

Greg,
Like you I am a huge fan of whale watches! Still waiting for that breaching thing to happen in front of me! I think the B&W rendering with the fog and the back of the whale works very well. The only thing that roubles me about this image is the bird that is right oon fron of the whale. I had to enlarge the image to see what that was. At first I thought that it was a part of the whale. Suggest cropping out that bird. |

Good point butch. I woukd preferred getting all of both birds. Things were happening fast in the unedited version you can see that I got most one bird, but not the other. So I decided to focus on th critical moment. I had considered cropping down to just the heads, but I really liked Todd's claws. |
