Morris,
What a beautiful image! The lighthouse, the moon, the beautiful pinkish/bluish sky, and the birds make this really special. My suggestions for improvement would be to clone out the graffitti, as well as the stuff on the left to the left of the bollocks. The only real issue I have with this shot is that bridge. To my eye the lines distract from all of those wonderful things you captured. But cloning them out wout be arduous! |

Alan,
I have had the same experience with polizing filters. I try to use them only to reduce the glare on water. One of the problems in a shot like this with a polarizing filter is that you can loss those wonderful reflections if you crank up the polarier too much. You did not do that, but you had the sky problem instead. I like the idea of using an ND filter with a slow shutter speed to smooth out the ripples in the water. My other thought is more on composition. You have a very powerful triangle of mountain and aspen on the top, but is is not replicated on the bottom. Looks like you were too far away from the shore line to get that reflection. A way of dealing with that after the fact might me to crop about 10% off the left edge. Give it a try and see if you like it. |

Josh,
Great moment that you captured! My sons were all over legos at that age, so it brought back pleasant memories! I love your son's gesture, the tee shirt, the book, and the lego pieces! I wish that the Lego tower he was building wasn't merging with his arm. Good job reducing the impack of the lights in the upper right.

Craig,
It's rare that we take pictures of people in the workplace. But why not?? You have capturec this worker with a great expression and clearly focused on her task and the machinery. I will echo other commentsers and suggest that you add some canvas to the top of the image so that her hair is not touching the edge of the frame. I might also suggest that you darken and blur the background in LRC. There's a lot of stuff going on back there that can distract us from seeing the worker and her work. |

Cindy,
The point of the image is to convey the thoghht of tranqility and peacefulness, as you say in the title. I think it does that! You might think about sharpening the boat slightly. You might also think of placing the boat more in the right portion of the image by adding canvas to the left side, This would give the boart room to sail into. Another thought is that you could have shot this on a tripod at a slow shutter speed to eliminate or greatly reduce the ripples in the water. just a thought. Others have recommended using a linear gradient in LRC to reduce the brightness in the sly on top. |

Bud,
Love the bird! Well done to capture it in flight with the wings extended. It is very sharp where it needs to be, like the eye and feathers! Great job. I like the crop that butch suggested, but i would add more room to the right to give the eagle a place to fly into. |

Butch,
What an incredible shot! As others have siad, you got a lightning bolt and a sunset with a mountain range! Tryfecta! Others have noted the halo issue on the mountain range on the right. It can be fixed in PS with a healing brush using the darken blend mode. |

Larry,
As usual your story about the image is just as interesting as the image itself! I tried something similar on the Oregon coast. Fun stuff. I'm actually more drawn to your shot of the landscape. The rugged coast with golden rocks with green moss and blue scky is quite beautiful! |

Cindy,
What a great adventure in Sri Lanka!! Like the others, I'm blown away by the image! The eyes are looking right at the camera. Wow. My only suggestion for improvement would be to soften the background foliage. |

Scott,
Sorry to be a little late in the game! Been a busy month! OK, I really like the front egret. It is so hard to get the whites correct with so m uch dark background all around. Kudos to you on that. For the back egret, like the others I'm troubled by the bluish cast. Perhaps you could put a mask on that back bird in LRC and desaturate? Give it a shot and see if you like it. I also agrtee that the reeds in the front left are distracting. I recommend that you either clone them out, which is hard, or greatly reduce the bightness on them. |
