Thanks for the background info on the handprints! Yes it also reminded me of the cave drawings in France! |

Peggy, I love lighthouses as subjects. Thanks for sharing this one with us. The steps form a great leading line that take your eye right to the lighthouse. I like that you've kept the bench. Since it looks like it was a full light day, I suggest you go with a faster shutter speed, something like 1/125. It is very difficult to get sharp images at 1/8 sec handheld. |

Josh, this is a very imaginative still life. Love the colors and textures. I agree with the others that it would be improved with greater dof. |

Mark, I've never tried shooting a performance. Most performances will not let you, so I've never tried. You've captured a dramatic moment. Love the angles of the subject. It is surprisingly sharp given your wide open aperture. I'd suggest reducing the highlights on the dancer's legs on the left. |

Craig, I love the colors of the boat, yellow and blue! The colors of the water are really interesting too. There you have blues and greens. The angle of the boat adds interest. I'd consider reducing the highlights below the boat. |

Torah, what a great story. It's so much fun seeing animals close to the road. It causes those bear jams. To me the hard part is getting a good shot of an animal without people and cars in the background. You were able to avoid that! You might consider darkening the bright patch in the upper right and reduce the highlights on the side of the deer |

Alan, this is a great portrait of a gold finch! It is sharp and betrays no traces of noise that accompanies high iso. Shows how good topaz denoise can be. |

Larry,
Thanks s much for your very detailed description of your process in getting the meteor shower shot. I'd be lying if I said I want to repeat your efforts in south FL. Mosquitos!! My only suggestion would be to darken the forgound a bit to make it look more natural. |

Cindy, I've never seen these birds, so I appreciated seeing a grouping of them. I know it is difficult to get them to pose the way you want, but here you only got one bird where you can see an eye. Lovedd the angle on the branch. |

Susan, You've some great feather detail on the bird. I think I would prefer the wider crop like what Bud showed us. I also had trouble finding what it is that the bird is eating. |

Michael, what a great capture! I've only seen one of these guys once in the winter. Great pose and excellent environment! The crop is appropriate, concentrating our attention on the subject. The dof is just right. The colors in the rocks mimic the colors in the pine Martin. Great job! |

Bud, so glad you caught up with such an illusive creature! What a beauty! I've never seen one in the wild. Their coloring disguises them so well! A couple of suggestions. Seems like you might have applied too much sharpening. The bird looks a little crunchy. For this forum since the background is black, you might consider putting a small white border around it to make it clear where the edges of the photo are. |

Thanks for your thoughts on my picture. I'm going to work on trying to bring out a little detail in the dark areas but to me the picture is about the long shadows and the brightly lit tree on the left. |
