Thanks for your suggestions! I was pleased with how this came out and you have confirmed that. |

Peggy,
Very nicely executed travel shot! You got some interesting tree branches to frame the subject, but positioned yourself so that the branches did not overlap the windmill. You also got the wheel and post separated from the body of the windmill, so we could get a good idea of how it worked. You benefitted from a sky that had some interesting clouds. Nothing is worse that a bald sky! You weren't cursed with that! |

Alan, what a fun photo and story! You did a nice job of getting the faces just above the side view mirror. You might consider cropping some off the bottom to turn this into a square format? |

Stephen,
I really like the idea of shooting something that is lit up against the night sky. The towers are well lit considering the background is so dark. You did a good job of not letting your camera's light meter take over! The towers are slightly blurry, owing to trying to go hand held at such a slow shutter speed. Short of using a tripod, of course, you could try resting the camera on a stationary object, like you car on a bean bag. Just a thought! |

Craig,
What a dynamic image of the car cutting across the desert! Love how the tire tracks suggest the speed and danger of driving up a dune! The lighting is great, showing the ripples in the dunes and the car is very sharp. My only suggestion would be that I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the clouds up top! |

I agree Michael. That's what I attempted to do in an earlier reply. Thanks for your thoughts on this image. |

Bud, what a great photo op! Were you on a photo workshop where the gide got you near where the owls might be active? So hard to spot these guys in the wild! Was the owl going after a mouse? Was it one that had been planted there by the guide? I agree with Michael that you might get rid of what looks like a strand of barbed wire across the top. The sharpness of the image is impressive! Great capture! |

Larry, You've given us another great nature story with this shot! I couldn't figure out what I was looking at until I read your description! Never heard of moonlight reflecting off a gator's eyes! Great shot! My only suggestion might be to bring up the shadows a bit? |

Cindy, Thanks for sharing images from Antarctica. I gotta go there! I love how you have an image with the bird sharp and the iceberg in soft focus and I like how you cropped off some off the right side. It gets the bird out of the center and give the bird room to fly, so to speak. I think my only suggestion for improvement is to lighten the tonality of the bird a bit. |

Susan,
I'm with you on how to get those white feathers not to get blown out! I like Larry's suggestions about waiting for a cloudy day, but hey, you captured a great moment. It looks to me like you shot this through a tree. I see something blurry fron the uper left through the bird on the left and continuing from left to right. Seems like you were shooting through a tree branch right in fron of you. |

Michael,
OK, so Costa Rica is back on my bucket list!! What an unusual bird! How incredibly difficult it was to get a decent shot of him surrounded by all of those branches. Love how you were a le to get the bird with a seed in its mouth. My only suggestion would be to try to darken the sky. Not easy! |

Cindy, thanks for that clarification. My corrective was to sharpen the buttes using topaz sharpen. |

Thanks Cindy! The foreground is what originally attracted me to this scene. But as I looked at it more I became entranced with the buttes. I couldn't be sure if including the pools of water on the right enhanced the scene or were a distraction. The pools of water are the Colorado river. |

Here is a version that is meant to address some of the comments. I cropped more and sharpened the buttes. What do you think? |
