Great comments from all. I have cloned out the green bush and reduced the highlights of the rainbow. Thanks for helping me make the image more impactful! |

Alan,
Love the image!! The bird is very sharp, especially the eye, which of course is critical!! I also love the bird's colors compared with the background colors. Great work! My only suggestion for improvement might be to reduce the highlights of the green patches above and below the bird. They pull my eye away from the bird. |

Josh,
This is a very imaginative image! Yes, "the shining" came to mind!!! B&W images should have pure black, pure white, and lots of gray tones in between. Thus says Ansel Adams (and he was right!). You've done that to create a dramatic image. My suggestion for improvement would be to crop it in from the left annd the right to where the floor molding begins. This would give it more of a vertical orientation, which I think would fit the subject better. |

Stephen,
What an unusual sight! Great eye to capture it! I agree with Alan, that you should consider making the lamppost vertically straight. You got somne interesting starburst from the headlights even at f2.8! Great! i didn't think that could be done! |

Craig,
Love this trio!! You handled the whte feathers very well. On a bright day like that, it is hard to get the whites just right! I would suggest as someone else said that you might consider adding some canvas to the right side. You might also consider lightening up the neck and faces of the two left storks. |

I like both of these suggestions. Didn't even see the green bush, so thanks for pointing it out. |

Richard,
Looks like you had a clear beautiiful day for this shot! Great to have the male and female in a line. I agree with the others that the lead duck is a little soft. Perhaps try running it though topaz sharpen AI? |

Larry,
Wonderful shot and as usual with you a great story on how you did it too!! You brok the rule about mnot letting images merge, but in this case I think I can distinguish between the two birds. The eyes are tack sharp on the closer bird, but a touch soft of the farther bird. Maybe take that into topaz sharpen AI? |

Cindi,
A trip to Anarctic? On my bucket list for sure!! Shooting in snow is always tough. Good thing you had an overcast day. sunlit snow is really tough to get right. I would crop this differently from what the others have suggested. In the version you showed us there is a patch of snow to the right of the righmost penguin, but on the left the frame cuts through a couple of penguins. I'd opt to cloe out a few penguins on the left edge to give the same ope snowy area to the left to balance the snowy area on the right. Also, since everything is so monochromatic, why not try it in B&W? |

Susan,
Another great capture!! I love that the bird is facing some seeds that perhaps it intends to eat. I like the version you posted later with the bird's mouth open! That really emphasizes that story! |

Michael,
This is a great capture!! The eye and the feathers near the eye are tack sharp. I can also almost tell that he/she is eating a moth! The background is beautifully blurred and with great complimentary colors. No suggestions for improvement! |

Thanks for the feedback bud. Good point that it would be hard for someone who was not there to understand that it is a lava field. Aside from referencing lava in the title, I'm not sure how my picture coukd convey that! |
