49 May 23 Comment Alan,
What a great find!! I could easily have spent time taking images of this store. This is one of those times where I think I would have started with this general image and then taken a lot of more detailed ones. So for example, I'm really drawn to the sign to the left of the door with some merchandise behind it. The old timey sign with a QR code would have been amusing! I could ay the same about the heavily rusted coke signs on the left and right.

Stars are tough! You did an excellent job of capturing the Milky Way, along with some very interesting foreground. Well done!! Several suggestions: The image is noisy. This is not noticeable in the starry sky, but it is in the foreground. Suggest you run the foreground portion of the image through Topaz DeNoise AI. I also suggest you consider darkening the lights in the bottom. They take my eye away from the Milky Way, which is the star of your show (no pun intended)! In examining the stars, they are pretty good ,but 30 seconds was probably about 5 seconds too long. There is a slight blur to individual stars.

Love Hillwood!! My wife and I get there at least once a year!!

Leading lines take your ey up the path and towards the greenhouse! Good compositional element! You also lucked out with a nice blue sky with interesting clouds! Suggest you level the roof of the greenhouse.

What a great experience! Never been to that place, but I think you just talked me into it!
I love the story of the two checks competing for attention. I wish there was a little separation between the two birds. The neck of the one ofn the right seems to merge with the bidy of the one on the left. I see the eye of the one on the right, but not the one on the left. The hardest thing to get right with egrets is the whites. Try darkening the highlights, so we can get more detail for on the backs of the birds.

49 May 23 Comment Owen,
I love Green Spring Gardens. Lots of interesting things to shoot!! I like the position of the tulip and that it is leaning somewhat to the left. It makes for a more interesting composition. My concern about the image is that the flower is not particularly sharp. You might consider shooting this at say f8? Perhaps you had some breeze that made it harder to capture. Then up your shutter speed to compensate. Finally, I would suggest putting your camera on a tripod. Another way to handle this is to make the front edge of the flower your focal poi and deliberately let the rest of the flow go out of focus. Many options!!

67 May 23 Reply The pose for the picture you posted is priceless. Just consider cropping up from the bottom. May 14th
67 May 23 Comment Bud,
Good for you that you are pulling out previous photos with the new software! Something I've been meaning to do! I agree with Larry and others about the white feathers. Getting the whites well exposed is the hardest part of shoot birds like this. The harsh sunlight on the bird's back has blown out any detail in the feathers. Try working on the hightlights slider in LRC.

67 May 23 Comment Richard,
Like the others, I like the idea of telephoto feet!! Nice way to put it. Great captures. I had trouble figuring out what the prey was in this shot, so your explanation helped. I'd add a little to the right side and to the bottom. I'm OK with your crop from the left side. I'd also suggest you darken some of the bright spots to the right of the bird and above the bird's head.

What a great story! I'm surprised you left your tripod behind!! Like the others I was bothered by not being able to find his other eye. Also I fund the brightness of the leaves behind the gator to be distracting.

67 May 23 Comment Cindy,
The image of the bird is fantastic! Very sharp and great wing position! At first I did not like the blank sky, but it looks like you might have brought up the saturation of the blue a bit, which is a good thing. My only suggestion might be to consider cropping up from the bottom. Do we need to see the leaves and the pod? Just a thought. Try it in LRC and see what you think.

67 May 23 Comment Susan,
What a stiking image of this egret! You've gotten the whites just right and the eye is very sharp! Great job! I agree with the other commenters that you might give us more room below the bird. My other suggestion is to tone down the shiny leaves on the left side. They draw my eye away from the bird. Perhaps when you shoot scenes like this, use a polarizing filter to cut down on that shine. Otherwise you can do it pretty easily in post processing.

67 May 23 Comment Michael,
I love this image! You've captured bird and prey!! The bird is sharp and the background is nicely blurred. Well done. Not over processed at all. My only suggestion would be to darken some of the bright spots on the right side of the poto so that our attention is on the bird.

67 May 23 Comment Thanks everyone for your thoughtful replies. What I was really going for was a shot of the bird and his reflection. So I was trying to darken and blur the rest. I like the idea of cropping in from the left to reduce the visual impact of the log. I tried to do that by darkening it. I'll also work on sharpening the bird. Thanks again for your help! May 13th
