Larry, thanks for your comments. I think removing the blue stem entirely from top and bottom might be the best compositional choice. Thanks for thinking it through with me. |

Thanks, Jason for your thoughts. The blue stem coming from the lower left through the upper right is one of the roots of the plant. I guess I thought having a line at a diagonal going through the central object would be a design plus. But your comment is making me rethink that. Suppose I cloned out both blue roots. Would that make it a stronger image? |

Bud, like you we get tundra swans wintering over in our area too. Wish I could get as close to them as you were in this picture. This image features great lighting and very still water for great reflections. What hurts it is that you have 4 birds and only one is distinct from the other 3. The two on the left merge together. For example, I cannot tell which bird owns the foot coming out to the left. The one bird in the background also is confusing. |

Larry, looks like you nailed another terrific barred owl shot in the wilds of a yet to be named lake in FL! The eye and body are tack sharp, owing to your fast shutter speed. There is a slight blur in the wing on our left. If your goal was to capture the owl in flight, this image doesn't quite do it. Because the owl is so close to the branch I just assumed it was perched there until I read your write up. |

Michael, as an avid golfer, I'm saddened to learn of the demise of a golf course, but love the fact that your community turned it into a natural area! I've never been lucky enough to spot a damselfly that wasn't zooming around. So bravo to your good fortune. I suggest that you crop off the left sider just to the right of the yellow flower. The stuff on the left takes my eye away from the subjecft. I would also clone out the spider web. Otherwise it is a terrific image - tack sharp where you want it to be and I love the dark background!! |
