You captured a great moment! Your notes indicate taht you shot at f5.6, but you also reference f9. I suspect you shot it at f5.6, which gives your image a soft background. I interpreted the black specs as flying sand, which your commentary confirms. My only suggestion would be to darken down the area under the eagle's wing touch to bring greater emphasis to the eye, whcih is tack sharp, and the head. |

Love the soft pastel colors in the water near the large stump. Compositionaly, the image is nearly 50/50 sky to water. I think I would give greater emphasis to the sky over the water, so I would recommend cropping out the bottom say 1/4 of the image. |

The lightning strike is dramatic and well captured! Love the late afternoon light you have as well. Compositionally I wish that the storm on the right was right between the two pilings. Then you would have had from left to right: storm, piling, storm, piling. Another option might be to crop off the right storm and piling. Then you would have storm with lightning strike and piling. Another thing I noticed was that there seemed to be a slight hallo around the piling on the left. |

Todd: This is a beautiful image! You worked some real magic from the original. I love what you did to suggest sunrise on the trees. Terrific. The only two suggestions i might make to improve this image is that I think you've got a little too much yellow on Mt. Rainier and I would consider enhacing the blue of the sky just a bit. |

Mark: I love the color! What doesn't work so well for me is the tangle of trees and knees. What is the subject? You say that it is the knees, but there are too many of them for me to focus on. My eye is bouncing around to the different "knees" of the trees. If the knees are indeed the subject, then I think I would get real close to one of perhaps a grouping of 3 of them with a wide angle lens and let them dominate the bottom say 1/3 of the image. |

Good catch on the straightening up. I always seem to need to do that. I like the crop on the right too. Thanks! |

Great comment. If I remember correctly, if I moved to the left then some of those rocks would block the reflection. I wanted to get as much of the lighthouse reflection as possible. |
