Piers, Thanks for your comments.
In a "field" of Irises, I like finding one near an edge of the field to be able to better isolate it from the masses. I then have more options to choose from for a background. |

Karen,
Thank you for the wonderful review and assessment of this image. This image was very intentionally chosen for all the reasons you identified...Separation from other surrounding buds; lack of other close buds, and the color combination you love with great Bokeh. |

Martin, Great use of the large aperture to separate this menacing figure from the background. I use that same lens as my go-to lens. I love its versatility; in this case, to fill the frame with your character.
Nice and sharp, well exposed. The image tells a story. |

Welcome to our group, Stanley.
Your initial image is a wonderful story-telling, very colorful image. Thank you for explaining (to others comments, above) the story behind the smoke and describing who the bride and groom are.
I love the stance of the (I'm assuming) mother in front with her left knee slightly bent, while holding the rattan fan and red cloth off to her right side. I love all the colors. |

Very nice image, Karen.
I like the original composition. The image appears "weighted' properly right and left.
I would play around with the Dehaze slider and try to get more detail in the mountains, then separately, try to mask the Sky and try to get more detail from the otherwise bland sky.
The foreground peninsula is clear and sharp. The areas beyond are less so. |

Great diagonals, Shirley. Many different lines lead to the Sun. Congrats on getting your husband up early. It was worth it.
I, too, like Stanleys interpretation of your image with less sky and more color in the foggy clouds over the river and a lightening of the dark hills.
This is a keeper. |

Piers,
I first though the image was IR but then realized some of the items in there would not be like shown in the image. I have shot IR before with an add-on filter over the lens, but the exposure time is very long. The person walking would not be seen using that method.
Great Combination of organic shapes with both straight and, of course, the dramatic curved lines that really make the composition. Looks like you really had fun playing with this. |
