2 Oct 23 Comment Martin, well done with the aperture at f10 to get the full depth of field that you did. That's impressive. Also impressive is the perspective you went for: low and close to Icarus with the temple behind. What a great story this image tells.
I love being able to readily clone out distractions (especially tourists) to achieve the artistic vision we've all developed throughout our photographic journey.

2 Oct 23 Comment Terri, Welcome to our group.
This was a WOW image at my first viewing. I would very likely try to capture the same perspective of a building like you did, but your creative vision to turn it on its side and do what you did is true abstract thinking. I like it very much.
My (constructively) critical assessment is that the points of the varying rooflines are not lined up exactly. That detracts from the effect, that I feel that you are going for.
I copied the original into my Lightroom and played around with the perspective in the Transform section. I am not well versed in doing this, but learned a bit when I was playing around with it, and was able to achieve a fairly close alignment of each "point" via a combination or Horizontal/Vertical/Rotate and Aspect sliders. I'm attaching my effort, which was, no doubt, your starting point. In mine, you are much more able to draw a horizontal line through each point. That would eliminate the current offset points and make for (in my opinion) a stronger version of an already awesome image.
Again, I like your imagination with this. Your effort is sparking my imagination to do more with the type of images I "see". Well done!

2 Oct 23 Comment Karen, This is a beautiful scene. My son and his family were there this past weekend. I've been there a few times myself.
I took the liberty of playing around with the original and did a crop that is essentially panoramic since the foreground is more than 1/3 of the image and doesn't add to the scene.
My first thought re: processing involved the DeHaze slider in LR. I bumped that up to +56 while increasing Texture to +23 and Clarity to +11. Each of the Highlights/shadows/White/Black was in the +30's.
It certainly makes for a dramatic Sky, but You can play around with it to suit your desire.

2 Oct 23 Comment Shirley, I'm a novice birder, myself. Lots to learn.
I like how your efforts have produced a decent image (I believe it is a crow) from your original. I like the textures and sheen on the wings from the heavy crop, and the replaced sky worked well. your final crop left enough room for the bird to fly into.

2 Oct 23 Comment Piers, I just returned from a weeklong photo workshop in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin, where one of our missions was to seek out old barns against fall colors. It was fun. So, I immediately liked your subject for this month.
My first impression of your image was cut short when my eye was taken up the roofline from right to upper center ......and then it got lost in the small branches and leaves of the foreground tree. I love the BW treatment and the textures, but I think Piers concept of including the other barn adds a great deal with a similar texture, but a contrasting shape and vertical lines.
