2 Jan 23 Comment Jaqueline,
Lucky you to be able to see this Fox.
We were EXTREMELY fortunate when we were there (in that same park) to have seen the elusive Puma - twice in 2 days. The first was a solitary Puma reclining on a hillside a few hundred yards away; the next day we saw a mother and two cubs after gorging themselves on a Guanaco kill, about 75 yards away. A total of 4 Puma. WOW!
I like Martins tight crop on your Fox. The blurriness of all other elements is frustratingly distracting. (How I know this frustration with my images). This type of crop really brings the essence of the capture to life.
Well done.

2 Jan 23 Comment Shirley,
Like others have referenced, I, too, like the portrait mode.
There is much ground-level trees and irrelevant objects that is unnecessary to obtain a good, solid image.
I, too, think the colors of the houses should be brought out stronger with saturation of those specific colors.
BUT - my initial thought was to create more texture in the dark clouds. The uppermost RH corner tells us that the dark clouds are potential storm clouds. I would try to accentuate them with Texture and Clarity sliders (in LR) with a masking brush. - Easy to do. That would add some drama to the image that is currently sun-lit.

Tremendously interesting countryside with lots of wind!!
I did look up Estancia Cristina. Looks like a WOW experience. You were near the same body of water that constitutes Lagos Argentinia, the same lake This Pier is part of, but it is very far apart from the south side of the lake where my image was taken near El Calafate.

2 Jan 23 Reply Jaqueline, your insight and comments are hugely validating towards my efforts at creating an image that makes the viewer stop and think, and really feel emotion.
Thank you so much.
I envisioned all this before clicking the shutter.
When you said last month that you had been to Torres del Paine, did you also go to El Calafate - just north of there? That's where this lake is, and where our Patagonia trip started.

2 Jan 23 Comment Thanks for the input, Martin.
I like it as well.
I guess I'm not done playing with it yet.

The green tones are grasses on (currently) dry ground.
I agree that the muted focus doesn't make that clear (no pun intended), but that's part of the dichotomy of this image.
In attempting to play around more with this image after reading your comments. I realized that the location I'm standing is NOT EXACTLY centered with the pier, I'm just a few inches to the left of center, so my efforts to center the image in the frame will never be fully even. I did put the horizon on the 1/3 line and muted the greens of the grasses. Personally, I prefer keeping in the green/yellow to make the scene visually more interesting, but I'll take advice and try other things. Here's my new version.

2 Jan 23 Comment Martin,
Yes, the boy's facial expression indicates he's got strong opinions about something. Wouldn't you love to know what they're talking about? Her expression says volumes. I LOVE the ice cream cone.
Good crop, nice lines, great colors and textures.

2 Jan 23 Comment Piers,
You're right about the interspecies interaction between these two. I regularly get to see them together in SW Florida and am able to note the similarity and differences between them. I love watching them "fish".
I'm suspecting that this image is not intended to end up in a frame on a wall in your house, but it's still an interesting image. Must notably, to me, is the wind-driven "wave" in the upper RH. My thought is that it (the wave) needs to be brightened with a masking brush to make it more prominent and tell more of a story about the windy day.
