I love how wide-angle lenses allow the photographer to get up close to foreground elements to accentuate them.
You've done a masterful edit with this scene. I'm envious of your editing skills.
Like Piers, I've become very aware of the "rule of odds" with my compositions as of late, and might further try to clone out the furthest bollard to leave the (already heavily edited) fence/bush to the left of the building. That, instead of cropping tightly to the wonderfully colored building, would still leave the building room to breathe in the composition.
Well done. |

Great image, Jaqueline. So much about this that I like.
I have tried Macro in these types of situations, and good depth of field is very difficult to achieve in a single image. The tips of the stamens, being closest to the viewer, appear to be a bit soft on the focus, and that is what should POP!
This would be a good candidate for focus-stacking in Macro. |

What fun!!!
I, also, have not been aquatinted with the Adamski Effect - until now.
I like what your end result turned into - especially with the addition of the flock of Skimmers.
I'll have to give that technique a try. |

Shirley,
I like your treatment to this image VERY much. But as others have noted, the slight out of focus is distracting.
Just another f-stop down and the top tulip would be in focus.
I do like the BW from your accidental use of a preset, but there's a lot that I like about your original 2, also.

What a wonderfully colorful image. Your editing skills are awesome. That's a lot of work to isolate your main dancer from the surroundings.
With that said, I feel as though the outstretched hand (his left) holding a colorful object, has been cut-off. I feel that that is part of the overall story, and would like to see that as part of the final image. I understand that would be a lot of work in itself.
As Martin suggested, an after-performance pose/capture as this dance being an isolated subject would be wonderful. |

Thanks for your comments, Jaqueline.
Since reading your comments (and the others) I've played around with this image some more and will take your suggestions to task before I send it off to be printed in a large format. |

Thanks Karen.
I very much want to print this on Metal or Acrylic in a large format. I wanted to get feedback from this group prior to sending it in for printing.

Martin,
Thanks for the kind words.
My post-production skills are limited.
This scene is the most "post" modified of any I've ever done. Since this Island is infamous for seashells, there is a phrase here for those who comb the beach for those shells, identifying those people as doing the "Sanibel Stoop". I have other images from this same time period that have people performing the traditional "Sanibel Stoop",and will work towards learning how to cut and paste that person into this image (and try to make it look right). I've included one of these images for reference.
