Those 4am starts are worth every penny you pay to get a good guide who can get you to stunning locations at sunrise. I love the colors, the light and the reflections. It's a beautiful scene.
My only negative thought is in regards to the truncated reflection of the taller structure. I would like to see the full reflection. The straightening helps, too. |

This image is all about the sky. My guess is that these linear features are contrails from similarly routed high flying aircraft. There are no straight lines in nature.
I feel that the ground and trees are in need of Clarity and Dehazing to provide better impact. |

Karen, Since becoming more versed in Lightroom, I've been adding a touch of Texture, Clarity and (usually) very light Dehaze to most all of my images.
I love this scene and wish I could have been there with you to see it, and capture it first hand. The latest crop in response to Jaquelines comments re: middle ground took my breath away with three VERY distinct horizontal layers of texture. That make it really POP!
Love it! |

Hung,
Your image, as presented, has the bird on the left with 4 legs, while the one on the right has 3 legs. So, my though tis that you've used Photoshop to remove the upper portions of 2 birds, but forgot to do the same fr the lower extremities.
I like what you are trying to acheive. It is tough.
I do like what Piers has done to remove the extra legs, their refelections, and brighten the background. |

Shirley, I had to do a double-take when first viewing your image because of the incongruity of the setting sun directly behind the Sunflower (providing very low level of ambient light) while the flower, itself, is bathed in bright direct light. I had to look for signs of an artificial flash to illuminate the flower, but it is obvious from the shadows that you're dealing with direct sunlight.
I love the concept, but can't love the image because of the (obvious) replaced sky. My suggestion would be to chose a different "sky" (ie., include a few light, bright clouds) that could still allow credibility to the brightly lit flowers.

This looks like a scene that I, too, would try to capture.
I like the lines of the distant roads and like what you've done editing out the dead tree, ligtening up the foreground and bring out the suns rays from the distant clouds.
