Jaqueline, I LOVE the essence of this image and what you're trying to do. This seed pod is something I would love to play with sometime, myself. The "wispyness" and portions that are out of focus makes the main seed pod so inviting.
However, my first impression was that I saw a lot of distracting clutter and drearyness in the lighting. If the wispy seed pod could be isolated and creativiely played with (ie., electronically) to punch it up a bit, it could be fun.

Great color, action and story. What a fun day you had!
My only concern with this image is the lack of focus of the top-most wave, It detracts from the surfer, the main item in the story. |

The reflection is a WOW factore in this image. The diagonal bridge across the frame does well, and creates a football-shaped reflection of the openings over the water.
Good job with the editing.

Congratulations on capturing an image that is rarely seen anymore. There is no hand-of-man where, at least a fence would be visible.

I, too, love seeing sailboats under full sail, racing with the wind, and wishing I was on board.
In your image, the sense of movement is portrayed with zeal. I love the colors and shape of the sails.
The overall scene looks like muted light. It's not as vibrant as I would expect if it's a sunny day. The body of water appears to be a resevoir (man-made) as indicated by the nearest houses being below the waters berm. The background, overall, is distracting, despite the better-looking replaced sky. |
