Looks like you had fun both capturing this image, then playing around with it in Post-production. Great job. |

For what you were trying to acheive, I, too, feel that f8 was not your best aperature choice. Too little appears to be in sharp focus, and what is, is disjointed. The overall mood is bleak.
I like what you are trying to do, especially with the beads of melting snow, and the diagonals are nice to see. |

I was so enamoured by the simplicity of the image with the bud in a wonderfully soft focus thast I neglected to even "see" the framing. It's a wonderful compliment to a beautiful image. Congratulations on getting the image so close to perfect straight out of the camera. |

Congratulations for being able to capture a new chick. Timing is everything! I love the nurturing stance the mother has. Like the others, I feel that cropping in from the left, then up from the bottom to eliminate some of the man-cut wood could be beneficial. Then, positioning yourself (both horizontal and vertically, if possible) to get the unobstructed view of tail feathers of the mother would be helpful, too. |

I love the effort that goes into creating this type of image.
What fun.
Ideally, I'd like to see this entire bubble covered with the frosted crystals, but certainly understand the limitations with warming temperatures and a sunny day. Love the starburst! |

I love the story behind the image. I wish I would have been along side you when you captured this.
I, personally, have learned quite a bit about Pelicans in the past year. They are fascinating birds.
My though on this image is that the original image(s) tell a bigger story of this group. The cropping you have of your primary image cuts off three of the birds completely, and partially two others. The detail of the heads and bills is nice in your submission, but I really like the reflection(s) of the original(s), plus, I feel it's a more complete story. |
