I would brighten up the head of the bird a bit so that more detail was visible.

I agree with darkening the background; this might also reduce the impact of the branches that are visible. |

Great shot to catch this moment in nature!
I'd lean toward cropping away the blurry bottom of the rock, not just to get rid of the blur, but It also increases the relative size of the butterfly in the photo.
But it's also nice as it is..., |

Great bird, great action, in a tough side-lit situation. If you were just looking to improve the photo and not submit it to a contest, I'd 1) remove the puffins from the background, 2) select the subject in LR and use the adjustments available to de-shadow and make the subject lit more consistently, 3) select the background and blur or darken it a bit.
Just how I'd do it if it was me...but do whatever pleases your eye! |
