John; Beautiful work...your dilemma is one I face often in my photos too...do I accurately represent the scene as I saw it, or do I tart it up to make it more striking, but not representative of what I saw.
Not sure about you, but I've always leaned toward the former, although the trend seems to be the latter.
I can see good things in both versions... |

Beautiful photo in nearly all respects!
Even with the blur, the busy background does bother me, but otherwise it is impeccable, IMO. |

Sherry- This shows how opinions can vary...I vote for the non-cropped version; in fact I would open up the upper right corner even more so that the entire top of the branch was visible.

Thanks as always for your helpful, constructive suggestions. To answer some questions...and ask some others:
1) The photo was hardly cropped...I was in a hide about 10-12 feet away from the Lioness
2) Leslie; I already used the mask to darken the background considerably...if I try to darken it any further, a "halo" appears around the back end of the animal
3) My eyes see this as a sharp image; but several comments suggested adding clarity for sharpening. What am I missing that needs further sharpening? |

Sherry...thanks for thinking of me...I hope that you are OK.
No issues for me...once my condo was repaired after Ian, I moved from Fort Myers cross country to the Eugene Oregon area...that's where I am based now :) |
