Thanks everyone for your helpful comments.
This was taken from a blind, which is why the reflection of the lionesses head is cut off...the window frame of the blind begins just beyond the crop on the lower side of the photo.
Differing opinions about the brightness and contrast...I'll go back and process it differently and see what I think.
I was curious if anyone would comment on the lioness in the background being out of focus. |

Leslie:
Can't see much detail on the very dark cub, but it looks to be in focus...Cinnamon is naturally lit and it's great to see the texture in her coat...if only we could tell them where to pose!
Just noticed in your bio that you live near Lyons...I lived in Lyons about 13 or 14 years ago :) I lived off 36 up Stone Canyon Road in that newer development. I miss that area. Could see the tip of Longs Peak from my backyard. |

Interesting experiment with ICM.
I like the contrast in colors between the field and the sky, but I agree with Leslie that I'm yearning for a bit more detail in the field.
But ICM pix are almost all eye-of-the-beholder...so congrats for posting it to get our feedback!

Sounds like an amazing trip...envious!
I agree with Leslie's cropping suggestion...too bad the fourth bird-in-flight wasn't looking in the same direction as the other birds! |

Sherry:
You asked if it was "usable?" Guess it depends what you want to use it for :).
Not always being able to get low is one of the frustrations of safari photography, for sure.
My only critique of the image is that to my eyes the cub's eyes and face are a little dark.
Regardless of what you decide, you'll have this memory forever! |
