Great second shot, Sherry!
Believe me, I understand how difficult it is to photograph black and white birds without overexposing them, and still being able to see the eyes clearly; a huge challenge even with the best equipment in the world. |

Agree with Sherry; a sharp photo of a levitating Hummingbird at 1/1000 is quite an achievement. Were you using a tripod?
Everything about this photo leads the viewer to the focal point, which is the eyes and head of the feeding bird.

Welcome to the group, John!
Beautiful cloud patterns; agree with all the previously mentioned potential technical questions.
I rarely use my iPhone for serious photography; not that there's anything wrong with it but it just doesn't fit my style. I even have a hard time shooting in Live View on my Alpha 1. My photo brain doesn't get switched on until I'm looking through a viewfinder...that may make me old-fashioned and inflexible, but that's how my brain works. I will use my phone to take quick videos sometimes. |

Really love the texture and detail in this shot.
I'm torn between which of the potential crops I would like the best.
You might even consider copping this image further so that the focus is on the eyes, colors and textures, but that's totally a judgement call. |

Wow...this is so pretty!
The hummingbird itself is so colorful, made even more striking by the flowers...a really nice shot. |

You've certainly set some challenging goals for tern photography!
I also like the second crop.
One of the most difficult things I've found with these birds is getting their eyes to show up clearly without overexposing the primarily white feathers of the bird. Do you or anyone in the group have any techniques to make this possible, other than the shadows slider in LR? |

Thanks for your comments, Leslie.
I try always to use the standard aspect ratio because I print and I sell my images in an online gallery.
We'll see what others think, but this may be a case when a non-standard aspect ratio best fits the image. |
