Thank you very much, Mark. I'll be the first to admit that I took some shots before and after this one that were under or over exposed. But I was pretty pleased with this one! |

Thank you, Sherry! Full disclosure: I had been shooting at another beach location so I was fortunate to have the exposure triangle nailed down when I took the first shot on this card.
I LOVE my 400mm f2.8!!! It's an incredibly sharp lens. With it, and my D850, if I take a poor photo, I know that it's all my fault, not the equipment...I like that level of accountability.
I'm a big guy so holding it is not too much of an issue, although I must admit that since I had both knees replaced last year, I'm not as steady as I used to be, so I try to brace against a post, a wall, a rock, or anything that's handy if possible. |

I agree with you, Judy...I've found it next to impossible to get a catch light in the eyes of a gull (but that won't stop me from trying again and again :)! |

Good job of keeping the bird in focus, which is often difficult when there is a twig between the lens and the bird.
The colors of the bird and of the twig are very complimentary.

Great bird, and nice capture of the Blackbird with the insect in its mouth!
Only critique is that the photo was taken from above the bird, and not at or close to eye level. A lower perspective would have given this otherwise good photo additional impact.

Colors are beautiful and I admire your steady hands to achieve such sharpness at 1/160!
Just curious if the way you used the shadows in the photo was purposeful or did it just happen?

Beautiful texture and detail, especially in the middle of the flower! Very low noise for a pic shot at ISO 1600.
Until I read your description, I would have assumed that this was photographed with a macro lens; amazing what we can sometimes do with a long lens.
Difficult for me to tell on my monitor, but some of the white parts of the flower would have benefited from additional depth of field.

Beautiful clarity and texture especially on the front part of the bird! Good timing in catching the bird with a caterpillar!
Was the light coming from the right in this photo? Might just one my monitor, but it looks to me as though the back 2/3 of the Cardinal is darker than the front 1/3. In some ways, this acts as a natural light vignette!
Seeing the ISO at 720, I'm assuming that you used Auto ISO? |

This is a great photo...it's hard to get a good capture shooting from below, but the fact that the Osprey's wings are fully spored and visible, and one eye is clearly seen, makes this shot a keeper, in my opinion.
Nice quality of light in the early morning. |
