Nice click at the critical moment!
Not sure if it was possible, but if you could have stepped to the right a bit the twig may not have appeared in the background and the background might have been cleaner with just the water.

Beautiful light, beautiful bird and tack-sharp!
You must have been fairly far away from the bird, because the leaves surrounding the Hawk are all nearly nicely focused.
I'm not sure what is to the right of the bird, but in a perfect world I would have liked to see the bird in the left 1/3 of the shot and more open space to the right of the frame.

Donald; I love Green Herons, and enjoy shooting and then Riparian Preserve when I'm in Phoenix, so your photo caught my attain right away.
I've never shot with this camera and lens, and have no idea how close you were to the bird; a lower aperture may have resulted in better bokeh and a cleaner background; but it's possible you need to use f/9 to get the Heron completely in focus. |
