David, this is a great capture. I looked for something like this myself when I was in Kenya. The zebras exhibit this behavior to confuse potential predators, but also to watch for them. I like that you captured the two looking over the backs of their herd companions. I agree with Cindy and Larry that the original image needs some work to sharpen it and reveal more detail in the prime subjects. That said, you have an image that tells a story, and that's the important part. Cheers, Bud |

Butch, I love the shot. Especially since it came at home after you chased after something like this for two days, isn't that always the way? If you brush away the ridgeline halo, this would make a terrific photo to have printed on metal and hung on your wall. |

Hi Cindy, you always amaze with such great photos. Great job of cleaning it up. What a great opportunity you had here. I love leopards too. They are such beautiful animals, and difficult to get a shot such as this in Africa. I did not know an Asiatic version inhabited Sri Lanka. Cheers, Bud |

Hi Scott: first off, I like your image. Having photographed thousands of these little birds and usually in the same type setting, I know the challenge of the dried reeds. I think you did an admirable job on the lead egret in defining the feathers and keeping the highlights from being blown out. WRT the blue bird in the shadows in the back, I think that's what a white bird in a shadow looks like. I know you put a lot of work into this final image, and I would accept it the way it is. |

Larry, having lived in Hawaii for many years and seen its real "Blow holes," I was underwhelmed by your main image. If it had gone 20 to 30 feet in the air, I may have been impressed. Oh well, I liked your story. I really love your original image. I love the colors, textures, and composition. That one I would definitely keep. Cheers, Bud |
