David, you took an image that was blown out and were able to define it's elements. My problem is there is no focal point. I see snow and rocks and water and, oh well. It does not move me. Sorry. |

Butch - tough capture. I agree that unless you've been on the Maasai Mara and tried to capture cheetahs on the run, you cannot fully appreciate how fast these animals are. I like your original image. Bringing up the contrast over-sharpens the photo, giving it an artificial look. If anything, I might consider a light Gaussian blur to communicate the motion reflected in the shot. I think sometimes an image can be more powerful if it's not razor sharp. |

Larry - this is a great animal interaction capture. I'm surprised at that croc climbing out of the water with ideas about the Aningha. You were certainly in the right place at the right time. Nice visualization on the possibility of the shot evolving.
I have seen, as you probably have, many instances of herons bathing in waters full of crocodiles. I have yet to see a croc catch a heron or other bird. Even the Nile crocodiles were not interested in the various types of birds when much more calorie-rich prey was available. |

Cindy - what a coincidence. I just got back from south of Cancun. There were Coatis all over the area. My sister had never seen one and was amazed when a couple joined us for breakfast. They were quite brazen. In the evening, you could see troops of them wandering through the resort. I got a few photos, but they were always with tables and chairs in the background. Not exactly a natural setting as you have achieved here. Nice photo! |

Cindy, this is a unique capture of a Peregrine. It brings out the bird's colors and a bit of personality. Finding Peregrines is difficult, especially one sitting still. Nice photo!

Michael - I love the shot. The bird's wing almost touching the setting sun is terrific. I don't agree that a crop is necessary. Moving from the dark lower left to the light in the upper right spiritually uplifts me. I think this is a lovely photo. |
