Susan, now that you have the gear, there is no stopping you! Yes, this is a little song sparrow. They aren't the prettiest of birds, but I enjoy their song. They are in my backyard almost year-round. Cropping in this tight shows great feather detail, but I think showing the whole bird in the environment tells the story better. Just my opinion... |

David, you must have had better shots of Yosemite from your trip. I detect a lot of smoke in your shot. Locations along the Merced River provide many clean vantage points for good images of the park's iconic features, such as Half Dome, Cathedral Rocks, El Capitan, and the many falls. |

Richard: Great capture! Nice story to go along with it. The little chick looks like it's posing for you. |

You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din! The South's heat, humidity, and mosquitos in August are more than I can bear, especially after my introduction through Navy flight and survival training during the non-A/C days of 1965. Your willingness to travel far to escape light pollution and line up your shot deserves special recognition. My trouble in shooting meteor trails is they are rarely visible before my 9:00 PM bedtime. ;-)
Great photo! |

Cindy, I love these birds. This is a great line-up that brings back memories of early Disney cartoons. The only thing I would have done would be to clone out the guano on the palm leaf. Cute shot!

Michael: I opened your image, and all I could say was - WOW! I know how hard those little fellows are to find, let alone photograph-well done! |
