Hi David. The color of the ice is truly what makes this picture. You really had a different perspective. Nicely done. |

Excellent choice for your subject. I love black-necked stilts. Your photo brings back the sound of their cries as they fly by when you are near their nesting area. A few years ago, I did some photo work for the Environmental Department of a Marine Corps base that allowed me access not granted to the public. I was able to get very close to parents with young. Great memories and beautiful birds. |

You know, Susan, I don't remember, but I probably did use the Lens Blur option in LRC. If you don't overdo it, it can make an image really pop. |

Thanks, Larry. I don't intend to submit any photos for PSA competitions. I'll leave that for the youngsters. I am just really enjoying playing with the new technology. My new computer and monitors are amazing... |

It is genuinely sharp and unique. The rookery I used to go to had no gators, and the nests were 40+ feet high in eucalyptus trees, so we didn't see much for a month or so when the nestlings were much older than yours. I love the clarity of the feather fuzz in your shot! |

Michael - nice shot of the beak piercing the frog. You caught the eye on a slant, so that helped too. There were cattle egrets all over the Hawaii golf courses I played for many years. |

That is a very cute GBH nestling photo. As they grow older, they become ungainly, awkward, and not very attractive. I used to spend a lot of time near a Great Blue Heron rookery in California years ago. It was noisy and smelly, but it was fun to watch. |
