David, I'm sorry but my first look gave me scraps of paper cutouts laying on a dark cloth with a muddy picture of some clouds behind it. Art is in the eye of the beholder (sic) and my eyes are getting older by the day. |

Thanks, Larry. I'll go back to this one and take out the raindrops when I get some time. |

Richard, a truly terrific shot! That's one I would frame and hang on the wall. Nice job. |

Susan - how lucky you got a trip to Costa Rica! I have tried to get there for years but haven't made it so far. That is a wonderful bird I haven't seen before. You got a really nice pose. It looks like he was as curious about you as you were about him. The D500 with the 300 f/4 PF is great for birds. I have them both, and even those I switched to Z gear, I kept those for the lightness and quality. You can't go wrong with them. I like what Richard has done to clean up the image. Now, you can go back through your thousands of Costa Rica images and bring out some winners. |

Michael, that is a unique capture, to be sure. I love the bird's color, and getting it in focus coming straight at you was quite a feat. I agree that the branches distract from the subject, your bird. As Cindy mentioned, a vertical crop would have helped significantly. Then, darkening the background much more to emphasize the bird would be dazzling. |

Great photo, Larry. Excellent planning and execution. I shot many wood storks on my trips to Florida, but the rookeries were always very crowded, making isolating individual birds difficult. You captured a great idea of the bird carrying such a large stick for nest building. Their nests are almost like those of bald eagles. Good one. |
