Thanks, that's what I thought, but it's nice to have an expert clarify it for me.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks to all for the comments. You are absolutely right about needing room on the left (and I do know how to do that in Photoshop). That's what happens when I submit while rushing off on a trip. 😠|

Well, David, you've done something right with your abstract work because staring at it for a time induces vertigo in me. It would look smashing printed in metal in about 3' by 5' size. |

Richard, your image leaped off the screen and smacked me in the face! I didn't know what I was seeing. When I stopped and examined it bit by bit, I loved it. The orange sky reflection is terrific. I just started a watercolor painting class and what caught my eye was the small red blooms peeking around the trunk on the left-hand side. This is the type of work I want to do more of, finding a great photo where others would pass by. Your project sounds like the basis of a really good photo book. |

Cindy: I don't have a butterfly garden nearby. I went to one in Tucson 20 years ago and found it a challenging photo environment for all the reasons you listed. I love the butterfly as one I haven't seen before. I find the pink flower in the background a bit distracting, but not enough to ruin the photo trying to change. |

Hi Frank: Having just been there in August, I love your original photo. You were there at a prime time (Lots of wildebeest - minimal photo jeeps in frame).
Your first re-crop is perfect, incorporating the trees and zebra. I think I might have lightened it -1EV to bring out the details, but I would print this one! |

Michael: I'm late. I love the rain and like others am distracted by the halos. I frequently have the same problem. Nice capture of an otherwise unattractive bird. |

Hi Larry: I'm finally back from my latest trip. Love your burrowing owl pix.
I notice that the upper 2/3's of the background is blurred. That certainly could be the result of the f/5.6. How do judges feel about masking that area in PS and increasing the blurring to minimize distraction from the subject? Now with all the powerful AI masking tools, we can do magical things with our photos. |
