Hi Terry. Great photo of the bride. You did have an awful background to work with. In your copy, the bride appears to be carrying the potted plant full of flowers. I think I would have lost the flowers completely if you had isolated the bride and her small bouquet. If you placed her on an opaque background with a soft fog-look over the bride and your final vignette, dynamite! |

Nice work, Bogdan. Swans are difficult to photograph without blowing out the highlights. You made a very nice capture in the early morning light. |

Kathleen, I like the drama effect making the image more like a painting than a photograph. The original was OK but rather boring. This made definitely made the shot more interesting. |

Nice capture, Walter. You achieved a 3D effect without the technology to do so. The pelican is suspended in mid-air with all features sharp. Love it. |

Nice work on a tough shot, Joan. I do like Stephen's comment above because I just learned something new for situations like this. And after all, that is what this is all about, isn't it? |

I like orchids. They were a favorite of mine while I lived in Hawaii. You captured this nicely. Given the age of the photo and the camera, focus stacking was not really prevalent then. However, an f/9 or even f/11 might have brought the center into better focus. |

That's a heck of a drive for one day!
The big bull moose were in the back areas like Two Ocean Lake.
I will only go back to Yellowstone in January and if the temps are forecast to be -20 or below. I have many snow miles on that Gardiner-Cooke City route. Refreshing and peaceful. |

Thanks, Bruce. You're right on the money. It was across the highway from the Gros Ventre campground. There's something about GTNP that keeps drawing me back, but this year the crowds were insane. In October, no less. I'm going back one more time next year with a Z9 just for fun. How many moose and elk photos do you need on your wall anyway? |

Hi David: This is one of those interesting shots that lends itself to many options in post-processing. I might try taking out the bare needle fir trees, increasing exposure to brighten the photo even more, and then applying a blur or fog effect to give it a more abstact look. This would be a fun one to play with. |

Hi Richard: I know the tendency when one takes a photo trip is to try and include everything one sees in a photo. I think this shot would be much more interesting if you cropped out the right side and as much of the sky as possible. Clear blue skies make for beautiful days but are, photographically speaking, very boring.
This is what I mean. Here I can see the very interesting stair-stepping of the falls as the water rolls down to the broad pool at the base. Just my preference. |

Larry - What a privilege to have the opportunity to make this series of shots. I love following your journey with the barred owls. |

Cindy - the water was captured at a perfect shutter speed. It embodies the name "Bridalveil." Nice job of cropping out extraneous material too.

Jason: Great subject and the lighting works well. My preference would have been for maybe a 16x9 crop to eliminate the OOF foreground and bring the sides in slightly. I agree with everyone - you did good!

It's very funny. I always look at a photo and make my own evaluation first before reading the other reviews. My initial thought was - great shot, very sharp, good colors, but should probably have used a square crop.
Then, I read the other reviews. Well, I guess there is consensus anyway. Nice capture. |

Thanks for the praise. I'm old and sitting at my desk indoors. Damn near broke my cane rushing to the door to get this shot. [Just kidding. 😉] |
