Thanks all. Great comments. Unhappy to have misplaced the original, but that's how it goes. I left more room on the left side of the photo because I perceived the bird to be looking slightly that way, but I do like your tighter crop, Terry. |

You're both right, of course. Unfortunately, I processed this while on the road and the original got dumped by mistake. The original had flat blue sky backdrop, utility line diagonally across the top third of image, and was darker. |

Apple iPhone cameras and the apps available are pretty amazing. The train and foreground foliage are nice and sharp. The phone app does not do a very good job of removing the poles and wires, which is a tenuous task when going through foliage even on the best desktop software. This is not a photo I would print. |

I like the sepia monotone better than the color as well. It really brings out the man's eyes and skin tones. It turns the photo into a wonderful portrait. The vignetting is a bit overdone for my taste and could be reduced somewhat, but overall a powerful image. |

Nicely captured. I wonder where your vantage point was to get such a head-on shot. On my initial glance, I thought it was a father and son on different size motorbikes. Then, I realized it was two racers with one near and the other behind. I like the crop emphasis on the rideers. |

Great capture in the zoo. Well cropped. I can see the younger lioness trying to curry favor with the elder. The older of the two accepting the grooming as her right. Nice story. |

Very nice blend of colors, textures, and leading lines. I can feel the weight of the bundles and see the strain on their legs as they toil uphill. |

Very sharp photos! I imagine it was tough to get the two together. Nicely done. |

The photo would have been much more interesting to me if you could have isolated the animal tracks. It appears there was a story there. |

Hi Richard: I love Painted Buntings and wish they came through the Pacific Northwest. I love your camera/lens combo. I have the same and it's really fun to shoot! Your description about how to get all the Bunting's colors answered all my questions about the image. One cannot always get the desired subject in perfect light! |

Larry - Loved the biology lesson on burrowing owl eating habits. I'll keep that in mind if I ever run across an opportunity to shoot them in the future. Loved the shot. It tells a story by itself. I would dread trying to swallow a sandy toad though. The sand flying from the owl's foot emphasizes how gritty his brunch must be. |

Jason, that's a terrific capture, especially with the flowers and greenery. The lead goat is beautifully crisp and the highlights are perfect. If you had stopped down a bit you might have gotten the other two sharp as well. |

Tough shot to attempt and not much room left to remove distractions like the stump in front of the otters and branch sticking out behind them. Otters are tough in the water because of the sheen. Nice try though. |

Cindy - you obviously have done more astrophotography than me. I can only look at the image from a viewer's perspective. The trees and rocks all detract from the photo subject, the Milky Way. As for the Cataracts, I had to strain to figure out where they were. It was not immediately evident at first glance. I don't thank I would try to reshoot that location but would seek one with a broader horizon and less detail, perhaps only one significant object in the foreground. Keep on doing it though because you clearly understand the process and will do great work. |
