Kathleen: Love Peregrine Falcons and was amazed you got a shot with an iPhone until I read"the rest of the story." The problem with iPhones for wildlife shots is the focus. If you don't tap the object on the screen you want to focus on, the phone camera will tend to shoot the broader scene which is what I think happened here. The bird is slightly blurry/out of focus while the trees/sky/clouds are sharper.
Still, I love the falcon! |

Joan, very nice photo. Having the kids gives a great perspective as to the size and steepness of the stairs. Post-processing is excellent. For whatever reason, it reminded me of the Cinque Terra coast. Well done! |

An animal I have never heard of or seen before. Very interesting. I agree with all that's been said before. The leaves under the belly in the original are particularly distracting. |

David: I love this shot. After adjusting the top, I would make a metal print and hang it on my wall. |

Richard, a beautiful little bird. I love the camera/TC/lens combo. Have the same rig and it's a favorite. I agree with Larry about not worrying about rules if you have a great image. I believe in bringing out the eyes with a LR adjustment brush or in PS. The eyes are sometimes the difference between good and great. |

Todd, I'm sorry. This one just does not work for me. All images are soft, two great bison butts, no direction to the photo. I'm not sure where I'm supposed to look. I'm sure if you go back to your filmstrip you can find a better one. 😉 |

Absolutely great capture. The trick to most great photos is being in the right place at the right time with the right gear. You caught him! Great job. |

Jason: you know this was an award-winning photo in one of the major contests last year? I agree with the above comments on toning down the cattails. I would have brought out the feathers and the eye more. It's a great capture. |

Great shot, Larry! I find it incredible too how little fear herons and egrets have of alligators. I assume it's because they think they are faster to flee than an alligator is to charge. Not sure that's true but I have shots of a little tri-colored heron taking a long bath in the alligator pond at the Alligator Farm. I kept waiting for him to get snapped up but he didn't. They keep their alligators well fed. You getting this shot in the Everglades is really special. Well done! |
