The buds are nice and colorful with the green. Since you wanted to isolate them and had a very busy background, why didn't you shoot wide open at f/3.5 or f/4? |

1. It detracts, for me. I like that they are sharp but if you had stopped down to f/9, you probably would have had the wings sharp too.
2. Changed angle and flipped crop were a good idea. It brings the butterfly face in direct line with the viewer and you can almost hear him saying, yum yum!
Beverley is right about the light background being a distraction. A dark-gray or black background would make this a powerful image. |

This is a great image! I love the colors and flow. Great eye picking this up to shoot. |

Colorful image with great detail! The only distraction for me is the purple thing sticking out of the top of the flower, it draws attention away from your subject and would have been easy to clone out. Very interesting and happy colors. 😉 |

Nice to see you following the hatching process and hope you will be able to catch the babies fledging. Since you were using a flash and had plenty of light, I might have stopped down to f/8 or so to broaden the depth of field. |

Hi Joan: The perspective, colors, lines and angles make this a unique and attention-grabbing image. Well done! |

The erase tool in Luminar Ai is WAY easier than using the cloning tool. It's a one-stroke fix as opposed to multiple pick and replace actions. I have no stock in Luminar Ai or am I related to anyone in the company, but when I can find a tool that speeds my workflow, I will grab it. I'm not getting any younger.😉 |

You were right David. I should have eliminated the gull on the right. I thought the pelican ballerina act was cute but I failed to isolate it to tell the story. |

David: I feel you have too much clutter in the image given the title. It probably would be more powerful with a tighter crop. I like all the waves in the light but they are hard to present. I would try to isolate the "wave." It's a great shot! |

Those little guys never stay still! You have a great lens to work with. You captured the bird but the piece of grass takes away from the image. Not sure what software you're using but Luminar Ai can remove items like that easily. |

Beautifully sharp with great detail. Feathers, small bug (?) at the end of the beak, terrific isolation of the subject, and great bokeh.
Obviously, the beach slopes to the right rear where the water is, the wind is behind the bird, and the sun is high in front. The only thing bothering me is the eye, it looks hollow. I know it's a matter of taste, but there is enough light on the head and eyebrow to justify a slight lightening of the eye in post-processing just enough to make it visible. Just an opinion... |

Jason: listen to Larry, he is a great teacher. Nice tracking work and staying with the buck until you got the shot. Stomping through 2.5' of snow, even with snowshoes, would be more work than I would try to do. |

Moose Peterson, eh?
Michael, that is a tremendous capture! I love it. Agree with all Larry's comments. There is a technique in PS to lighten the iris and darken the pupil slightly that would bring out the eye somewhat, but you have a great photo as it is! |
