You're right. I asked them if they would move to the side so I could get a better shot but they just wouldn't listen. ;-) |

It's a great shot. It's amazing how these iPhones can keep everything in focus from front to back. I love the subject. I think I have a few abandoned boats in my library too. They beg a tale that only your imagination can complete. |

You're right, Kathleen. Elevation @7,600 ft. Absolutely clear sky with the early morning sun at an acute slant. When I dropped the highlights and brought up the shadows to reveal the snow's texture, it revealed the blue. I like that because it reflects the minus 35F temperature. |

A very difficult shot indeed! Into the setting sun with a rapidly moving subject and glare coming off the water into your lens. Did you consider lightening up the dolphins slightly in PS?

Terry, I agree with the above comments. Nice capture but trying to shoot a D5200 at ISO 25600 is pushing the camera well beyond its capabilities. If you had a flash attached it may have helped a bit with the noise. As another aid, Topaz Denoise Ai is probably the best program available right now to reduce noise in post-processing and it's relatively cheap (and, no I don't work for Topaz). All that aside, it's a great composition of difficult photo capture. |

Great shot of the GBH interaction. Your post-processing looks to me like the photo was turned into an oil painting. If that was purposeful, it's an interesting effect. |

I looked at the photo initially and laughed thinking it was an alien cartoon creature but looking at the original made me appreciate your work and artistic eye. Great job of post-processing. Lovely work. |

I lived over twenty years in Hawaii and your photo made me somewhat homesick. A very nice photo of a beautiful place. A postcard or calendar shot. |

You're right David, the f/9.0 was a typo. It was f/5.6. |

I knew when I posted this shot I would get comments on the crop being too tight. Unfortunately, I had to recover this photo from my Facebook page because I lost the original in a hard drive crash that took much of my work. The original file was VERY large but I cropped it small to avoid theft on FB. Oh well...
Larry: I was about 30 feet away from this bird with the mid morning sun behind me. I probably took 300-400 shots, all sharp because he/she was ignoring me completely. All gone now. Sigh.... |

Hi David - That tidal area looks like a real ankle buster, especially carrying a tripod, camera, etc. I like your post-processing a lot. I'm just wondering if you could have moved back and to the left a bit to get more of the lighthouse in the reflection? |

Richard - you are right in choosing the title. Your post-processing turned a rather harsh original into a pastel rainbow of downy softness. Beautiful! |

Larry - Love the way the ND filter smooths the water. As to cropping, you have a very powerful sky that I wouldn't want to lose. There is a mythical nature to the golden area above the dark clouds, especially with the two dead stumps and the lightning in the distance. Cropping to the left of the RH thunderstorm turns the photo into a tale for me. Zeus has come by and struck the two stumps leaving them in the path of the setting sun and is moving out over the water firing bolts as he goes. Love the photo! |

Michael, this certainly captures Nature in the bleakness of winter. Merging 15 images of all the perpendicular trunks must have been a challenge. I like the reds of the forest floor and the greens of the new shoots but I might have backed off the saturation a bit. Your sky is beautiful with the orange-tinted clouds hanging on a blue backdrop. |

Hi Todd - Love it. Since I can see Mt. Rainier from the top of my driveway, I'm always trying to figure a way to get a great shot of Rainier. You obviously have done so. Loved your light effects, especially in the lake reflection. Well done.
(Now how do I get to Reflection lakes?) ;-) |
