This is the church of a village near the sea. As many places in the Netherlands, they built dikes to refrain the seawater from entering the land. As the church is quite near the dike, and the dike was quite steep, there was no way for me to get higher and not get the church to large in the frame or with other buildings (as I would have had to use a wide lens to not be too close to the church then). I appreciate that different people have different opinions about this image. Maybe next time I can get an image with more building in the pic, but maybe I need to look for another location then. ;) |

Thanks Christine for the review. Yes I can imagine the viewer could become confused, especially for people who have not seen a scene like this (with a village behind a tall dike). I just wanted to make a minimalist image actually, but my style is more like the image I attached to my reply to Bob. Thanks you like that one! So not so successful after all ;) |

I agree with Bob that a slight view on one of the eyes would have given more impact and a more personal feeling (now the image is very anonymous and you do not really feel a connection). Also agree with a slight vignette, you could try that. Nice image! |

I agree with Christine that the portrait is nice but the original candid is even better for me (tells a better story). For me the colors are a bit too saturated (too red), but that could be personal taste (or my monitor hahaha). Nice shot! |

Hi Christine, welcome to this group! I agree with Bob, my first impression when I saw this image was about too much sky as well. The image you attach in a reply to Jose is much better with regard to the sky and focus on the couple. Well done! |

Nice image! I like the framing, I use this technique myself a lot as well. I agree with the comments of Jose and Bob above, cropping the image a bit at the top would focus it more on the bridge even more. |

Nice image of a feeding Pond Heron. I shot some photos of a Javan Pond Heron here as well, they are quite shy so good shot! Did you crop or just used a very long lens? Agree with the comments of Jose and Bob above. Well done! |

This is a difficult image to take without too much noise indeed. You could have used a lower ISO maybe if you could have asked the man to be still for some time, but I do not know about the horse ;)
I like that the image has rim light and even though without much detail it tells a story and is storytelling enough. Not sure about blending in the night sky, not such a fan of sky replacement, but it suits the mood. Well done! |

Thanks Bob for the review. For info on what is behind the dike I attached a pic from a different view. Yes, it is a more complicated view if I had climbed the dike. I would also have been too close to the tower, and probably would have to use a wide angle lens which would probably not be enough to get the rain and dramatic clouds in the background (they were further away). I will try to add more contrast to the clouds though. Thanks. |
