This sky is eye-catching in the way it is almost completely covered with a wide variety of clouds. The angles and diagonals and curves within the whole composition make for a fascinating view of this scene. I have seen such interesting photos of the Dolomites over the years. I bet you have a lot of their photos we'd love to see. |

Dark and foreboding - that's my initial reaction. That makes the image distinctive. It seems that most photos we see are taken during regular weather. The image seems bland to me, so I played around with it to try to make the sky seem more dramatic. I basically used the contrast slider. I made another version not saved or shown here but one that told the story of a stormy sky, where I made it b/w except for the red car lights. Lots to play around with in this image. I love the story about the Flint Hills concert because that event was so monumental every summer here in the Kansas City area. |

Having the reflection of the colorful sky in the lake makes this image so captivating for me. I never thought of the Northern Lights in this way. Your camera technique was great. I even see stars in the colored areas of the sky. I like the composition, but I'm curious if you also took any photos where there was more lake than sky? I wonder if that view would be as impressive. |

What I especially like about this photo is that there are so many layers of clouds in so many colors and tones. I don't think I've ever seen this. Different shades of "storm." Makes for a unique cloud image. I can imagine looking at the sky at this time and seeing lots of shapes. I do see the rabbit and also the kangaroo, and I wonder what the sky looked like as it moved across the sky! |

It is great that you were able to capture such an unforgettable moment so clearly. Your research paid off. I feel the magical moment when I look at your moon. I'm impressed with the blackness, because I've seen only partial eclipses where I was disappointed not to experience any real blackness of the sky. Excellent idea to present your image to us with the white border. |
