I like the new color cast on the background. Keeps my eye on the baby. Anything that looks different from the main subject can draw the eye away. |

I noticed it right away! It's interesting to find out what other people notice in our photos! |

You can sort of imitate the look of a macro lens by severely cropping a high resolution image. Experiment with various f-stops. |

Thanks for taking out those miscellaneous stems. That had been too much work for me at the time! |

You captured the children's joy very well. All the bright colors contribute to that happy feeling, too. My method of de-emphasizing such a light background would be to use selective post-editing and darken the highlights and maybe slightly less exposure. I often do this to make a main subject stand out. I think some people call it light painting in post editing. I see the great reaction that you, the photographer, got when taking this photo. The children responded well. |

Welcome to our group, Fran! I love your first submission. How great that you have such knowledge of the wild horses! I love the lighting that makes all the details show up so well. Whatever image adjustments you made look real and not overdone. You certainly did position yourself in a good spot to get this great composition. I always like it when the background water is a reflection. Maybe you couldn't get more background because you would've gotten land instead. |

Yes, you caught the joy, for sure! I like the candid aspect, too. A sign of the times when you see someone in the background taking a phone photo! I often wonder what people do with so many photos nowadays. Phone cameras do a very good job taking well-exposed photos like this one. |

A really lovely scene with its peaceful mood. I'm glad you explained why the cup was there. I wouldn't have known, otherwise. I don't drink coffee and think of it as a breakfast drink. Your image's dreamy-ness is evident immediately. I might have enhanced the yellow and orange coloring to be more intense but without looking fake, to match the intensity of the blue coloring in the bottom area. |

Now the joyful baby has no distractions behind her. Good idea. You carried it out well. The graduated background was a good choice. Sometimes I have blurred a background so much that it turned into a color-coordinated gradation. I like the lighting and pose. |

I see the joyful story. And the word DAD is so appropriate for this month of June when Father's Day happens. At first, I thought the adult giving the piggyback ride was a DAD, but at close look I think it is a woman. Your cropping has cut to the interesting activity in your image. Capturing a moment in time is what such photo shots do so well. This joy is frozen in time now! |
