12 Feb 22 Reply Yes, simply darkening that big roll of paper towels makes a huge but good difference! Great idea! Feb 24th
12 Feb 22 Comment I like the story, and, like you, wish you could've rearranged some of the image's elements. I felt the most distracting thing was the background. So, I reduced the whiteness and exposure. I did try removing the paper towel roll but couldn't find anything good to replace it. So, I cropped it off and filled it in with some of the striped pattern! Sort of defeats the point of the storyline, though! I love your travelogue storylines. Sure increases the pleasure of the image! Feb 12th
12 Feb 22 Comment I feel as if I am actually in your kitchen! Great perspective, looking down. And catching all the ingredients. The lighting works well for me. I can see everything just fine. What excellent natural light you have in your kitchen! The panoramic style of cropping also works well, because my view is nicely limited to your breakfast project. Feb 12th
12 Feb 22 Comment I should take that still life course! The red and green colors stand out so well against the black background. One suggestion would be to make the highlight spots here and there go away. In Photoshop, hit the J key and clone away! I prefer that to the rubber stamp tool (or similar, in other photo editing programs). Another suggestion might be to experiment with brightening just the green color. I fiddle with colors in Lightroom or Photoshop Camera Raw filer, but it can be done specifically in other programs. That red border around your image keeps me appreciating the red color of your ceramics. Feb 12th
12 Feb 22 Comment Great idea to try a technique learned from a photography magazine article! I am certainly taking my time looking at all the parts of the grater. Definite uniqueness! And I like being reminded that a wide angle lens can be used for a closeup. We tend to think we must use a closeup lens for a closeup. Not so! Thanks, Gavin! Feb 12th
