The assigned subject was Up and Above. I think this vertical shot with lots of room above the man's head emphasizes our theme really well. For me, the blue building shades of color represent tall skyscrapers I look up and above to. The angled lines of the building match the angled red ropes holding up the window washer. The graphic elements tell the story! It's amazing the man's face is sharp! |

I brightened the picture so I could see it better. Then I appreciated the cute little birdies better. Then I felt better about removing some of their environment. I agree with Gavin that these pictures are hard to get. Looking up and above with my camera makes me fall over! Here is my edited version which emphasizes the birds and de-emphasizes their environment. |

I like the way I am definitely looking UP and ABOVE me. This escalator almost looks scary, like an amusement park ride. I cropped your original differently to try to emphasize its LOOKING-UP aspect. I cropped off at the curvy part of the handrails. |

Nice vertical lines. Makes for some interesting patterns. Keeps my eye in the picture. For bus rides like this, I set my regular camera for shutter speed priority to about 1/400 or 1/500 just in case I see something of interest like this scene you couldn't plan for. There are iPhone photo apps that allow you to set a high shutter speed. You could set up your iPhone with such an app and be ready with your phone, too. |

Looking up through plants is one of my favorite views. You accomplished it well, without blown-out highlights. Sure like the out-of-focus soft clouds. The yellow border enhances the prettiness of your image. I usually use a fast shutter speed when I attempt this view, like 1/500 sec. |

Your Garmin building has a pleasant amount of soft coloring and early morning light. Even the cloud pattern is soft and not harsh. I have seen this building from the street. I know you had a wide variety of choices for the perspective. Any little part you cut off has added to keeping our eye in the frame, I think. |
