I blurred the background and darkened the highlights of the background. Also, brightened the dark areas on the right side of the picture. I think the rooster stands out with his gorgeous colors even more. |

Glad to hear Gavin went to the PSA convention (festival)! Thanks for representing Kansas City in that regard! |

I never thought of that, but I have a blank white sky. And it isn't even distracting! Wish I could say that for my million other photos with the dreaded white sky! |

I covered the left side with my hand just now, and you're right...the photo popped! |

I'm impressed by the unusual content of your winter season image. I noticed the earthy stuff in the river of snow first. Then the cool horizontal lines and patterns of the footbridge. Everything is interesting but yet nothing is visually selected for me. Not that we always need a center of interest but along those lines. I tried some light sculpting on your image. I chose to make the earthy stuff lighter so that it would be a leading line to the bridge. I darkened the background and cloned away any light stuff. I did it with the PS Adjustment Brush. Not sure if you can tell the difference. The effect is supposed to be that there is now more of a reason for the photo other than the entire scene. |

You found fall colors in a rooster! I smile when I see this. He looks proud to be posing in front of fall-colored leaves. I might have chosen a dark instead of a light vignette. I'm enjoying all the detail in the rooster. Your f/stop blurred some of the background. If this were my photo, I would use the PS or LR Adjustment Brush to blur the sharper leaves. Really great exposure of the rooster's feathers. |

Excellent choice of subject matter by finding a perfect reflection of the fall season. That area of the image would make a great 8x10 print. The upper trees don't really matter to me although their shape makes for a dramatic tall skinny picture. The color and contrast look of the upper part of the photo doesn't seem to match the bright intensity of the colorful trees and water area. Looks washed out to me. |

Your snowy scene definitely says "season"! The vignetting of the sky works perfectly to point my eyes to those flags and the cemetery. It would be hard to show off the footprints without bright sideways sunlight, but I love the story of what you did. Congrats on having this image chosen for a Christmas ornament by the local women's club! |

The oranges and yellows do beautifully say "seasons" - the fall season. Including the blue of the sky makes this a colorful scene. I see you used a fast shutter speed to prevent blurring from the wind, which is always a problem with this kind of shot. The background is suitably out of focus. I often use shutter speed priority with this kind of outdoors shot. Personally, I keep seeing a jet bomber in the dark shape on the right side! |
