Chocolate does smell so good! I love the story your photo tells. When I look at your photo with my hand blocking off the white cutting board at our left, I find the 2 little chocolates on the right pop out and make the photo say "chocolate" even more. Regarding the bright areas in the background, my current solution for such problems is to darken them with a brush in either Photoshop's RAW filter or Lightroom. |

What a lovely setup! I think having a background like that is a great way to set off the main subject. Even the main subject has several elements to keep me interested. The depth of field is perfect to make the food look its tastiest. I have burned food as well as pots and pans when I got "detained" at my computer, so I understand! Your choice of objects and their arrangement are a very good composition. You created a very effective presentation. I tend to think very plainly, and I'm inspired by your complex setups to think beyond being simple. |

The "glistens" on the glistening food makes it all look so appetizing. I'm not sure the smell of fish is something I want to smell, however, even though I love to eat fish! Sometimes I wonder if the iPhone was made to take food photos because it seems that the first photos people put on social media were food!!!! The colors are saturated well, which makes the food seem even more tasty in my mind. I like the angled composition. My eye stays in the photo while it looks at all the food. Very nice. |

I was thinking "food" until I saw your flower...great idea! I like your idea to blur out distracting backgrounds with the zoom blur. Sometimes I Gaussian blur such zooming streaks, starting from the flower and decreasing the Gaussian blur as it goes to the picture's edge. This helps the background look more natural. |

The crust is what stands out to me and looks like the center of interest and looks like it smells very good. The pie server is an excellent secondary item of interest, especially since it looks like a fancy special piece of silver and also has those little bits of good-looking food on it. I like the look of the window lighting. |

That one cookie that is in focus makes it look even more delicious to me. If they were all in focus, it would have an ordinary (although yummy) look. The shallow depth of field that really blurs the background cookies seems to me to balance the bright area at the bottom of the picture and thereby keeps my eye always going back to that main cookie. Since my eye starts and ends on that sharp cookie, I consider this photo a success! |
