12 Apr 20 Comment If I had taken this scene by shooting straight ahead of my eyes, all I would've captured was grass! This monument is UP on top of a hill! I guess the telephoto lens removed this "look" of looking up at something tall! Apr 17th
12 Apr 20 Comment I'm surprised how many of you didn't like the framing with the bare trees. For me, that was the point of the picture! Apr 17th
12 Apr 20 Reply This is NOT Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery inside the Army base. In addition to that National Cemetery is the one called Leavenworth National Cemetery! 2 different cemeteries. I wonder if Leavenworth is the only city with 2 national cemeteries! I have a video of each of them on my Flickr page. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ckropscot/albums/72157684372455105 Apr 17th
12 Apr 20 Reply Congratulations on becoming a Photoshopper! I often use both features, meaning that I brighten the shadows and turn down the highlights a little bit. Apr 16th
12 Apr 20 Reply Wow, it does look like a rocket! I hadn't thought of that. But I did feel the feeling, and that's why, I think, I stopped to take the photo. There was something special about what it looked like as I looked up so far (plus it's on top of a hill that I was looking up)! Apr 14th
12 Apr 20 Reply The assigned subject is mentioned as the first words of the photo's title...Something Tall. Apr 14th
12 Apr 20 Comment I feel the USA flag in the middle looks most important despite no wind, so I'm not as disappointed as you! And I'm impressed by the sunset you found behind the flagpoles. I took your photo into Photoshop and edited to emphasize the flags and sunset. The colors may be a little extreme, but that seems to be a popular trend these days. So here it is! Apr 9th
12 Apr 20 Comment What an interesting story! And your view is definitely very tall! I find that sunny shots like this are a challenge to work with in post editing. I took the liberty of putting your image in Photoshop and trying to give it more life. I darkened the foreground grass and gave more color to the trees to try to make the lighthouse stand out more. I wonder how wide your lens was? in order to capture this great height... Apr 9th
12 Apr 20 Comment Is this the clock tower in downtown old Overland Park where the farmers market is? It reminds me of an old-time scene in early America. I can feel the early morning coloring on the clock face. If this were my photo, I might darken the concrete of the building on the left and clone away the 2 little concrete-colored areas at the bottom left. Apr 9th
12 Apr 20 Comment I bet the volcano felt "tall" when you were physically on it. It looks like an imposing climb from this view. Imagine a chairlift on a volcano!! The sunrise coloring you captured is lovely. I like seeing the rock formations in the ocean at the bottom right of your image. Apr 9th
12 Apr 20 Comment Your "Something Tall" is also very colorful and unique! I'm enjoying looking at it and wondering about all sorts of things! Like "What are the people of rural Wyoming thinking?!!!" Tell Don I think it was worth the detour to go capture it! I like the way the darker cloud area ends so near the bottom of the palm leaves. Apr 9th
