I didn't see the barn right away - Gavin mentions that the barn gives the impression that it is hard to be found unless someone was looking for it...and I was looking for it! And what a beautiful scene! |

Walt, could you give us a reason why you'd prefer to see the building looking in the other direction? |

Rather looks like a castle to me, too. I happen to like the cloud in that unique position! |

I agree about the beauty of this vista. The creek in the foreground is something I especially like about the image. I can't tell if the barn is just isolated or abandoned, but it doesn't matter because for the moment we see no people or animals. And that little barn is like a hidden treasure in the landscape. I think I see a road on the right, so I would've suggested cropping it off for this abandoned theme. When I was cropping, I also brightened the image a little bit even though the sky is overcast. |

I think the wild foliage enhances the abandoned feeling of the old building. I never knew there was such a place as a fern and pineapple farm! How interesting! I wonder if you could've made the treetops the background without any sky by shooting from a very low position. Another idea is to edit the photo to make the sky irrelevant, such as my black and white, cropped photo here. |

I like your "take" on the abandoned theme. These buildings are abandoned during the summer. To enhance the theme, I cropped out the cars on the right and the flower pot on the left. The, in addition, when I cropped off some of the street, it seemed to emphasize the buildings even more. I also cloned away a little red flower I think I saw in the middle building! |

The weird shapes of the building give your abandoned image that extra something to remember. I never would have guessed the story behind the shapes! I appreciate the leading line of the shadowed tree branches instead of just plain green grass. The one little puff of cloud is so perfect for a sky that has all those pointed roofs pointing into it. The overall building seems to be tilted to the left, and I don't know if it's the camera angle or the lay of the land. See my version. |

I can feel the abandoned loneliness in this scene. It is sad because the farm's field looks as if it is not abandoned. Because of that, I get the feeling this house is going to be replaced rather than repaired. You shot the building facing outward toward the sunlight, and so you've captured the abandoned concept with a bit of cheerfulness! |
